Holly Hunter, an American film and actress, is known for her acclaimed performances in movies like Broadcast News The Firm The Piano The Incredibles. Her work has been recognized with numerous awards, like an Oscar for her role in the film Piano. The successful actress began her career as an actor on the stage through a variety of Broadway and Off-Broadway projects. She has had a passion for acting since when she was in the high school. Her debut role in a play in fifth grade was as Helen Keller. When she was in the fifth grade after having mumps she lost her hearing in her left ear. She did not let it stop her from performing. When she was in college studying drama, she moved to New York City with her ambitions in mind. Hunter met Beth Henley by chance in a lift. Together they composed Broadway Crimes of the Heart. It was Hunter's acting debut. After moving to Los Angeles, Hunter tried to get films to play. The role of a supporting actress was secured for her in Swing Shift. Her career spans more than 30 years and she's appeared in a variety of TV films or series, as well as films. Holly Hunter was awarded a Hollywood Walk of Fame Star and the Women in Film Lucy Award.
